Energy is nearly the whole network cost
A USDT transfer executes contract code, and the network charges energy for it. With no energy it
converts the shortfall into TRX at the energy_fee parameter and burns them. This is not
a fee in the usual sense: nobody receives it, the TRX are destroyed.
The biggest charge is not the network’s
An exchange withdrawal fee usually exceeds everything the chain takes, and it goes to the exchange rather than into the blockchain. Neither energy nor bandwidth touches it.
Why the numbers online disagree
Super-representatives vote on the burn rate, and it moves: in August 2025 proposal #104 took it from 210 to 100 SUN per unit of energy, halving the cost of a transfer overnight. Guides written before that still quote the old figure. This site writes no price into its text for the same reason — every number here is read from the chain and from our own price board.
