How much energy does a USDT transfer need?
65,000 if the recipient address already holds USDT. 131,000 if it does not. In doubt, take 131,000: the overpayment is smaller than one failed transfer.
How to check the recipient
- Copy the recipient address and open it in a TRON explorer.
- Find the token list. USDT there with a non-zero balance — 65,000 is enough.
- No list, or no USDT in it — take 131,000.
- Address not found at all — it has to be activated first by any incoming transaction.
Several transfers in a row
Energy is delegated to the address as a pool, not to a transaction: the leftover lives until the hour ends. We sell two sizes, so three transfers means three orders in a row rather than one larger amount. The calculator does the sums.
Why other sites quote other numbers
64,285, 64,300, 29,650 — all correct at some point. Consumption follows the contract version, storage state and network parameters, and all three have changed. 65,000 and 131,000 are today’s standard with headroom.
65 000 or 131 000: what decides it
The amount of energy depends on one thing only — whether the receiving address has ever held this token before.
The address already holds USDT
The contract only updates a number that already exists. That is the cheap case.
The address has never seen USDT
The contract has to create a new balance record from scratch, and writing new storage is what costs double.

Frequently asked
Why 131,000 and not 130,000?
Rounding up. Real consumption drifts, and the headroom protects against a transfer that fell a few hundred units short.
What happens to energy I do not use?
It stays on your address until the hour ends, then the delegation lifts itself. Leftovers are not refunded in money.
What if I already have energy of my own?
The amounts add up. Below a couple of thousand units it is not worth optimising.
